New Horizons: New Horizons is a group of widowed, divorced, separated, and single women, mostly senior citizens.  Our goals are fun and friendship.  We get together regularly (once or twice a month) to see plays, movies, musicals, and interesting places around Atlanta and North Georgia, usually in the daytime rather than evenings.  We always have either lunch or dinner together while we're out.  Some of us live alone and really enjoy each other's company for these meals.  Although this is similar to the 55 Plus Group, it fulfills a different need; women who generally had spouses previously and now can get together with other women in a similar situation.  Some of our members are new to the area and living with their adult children, and do not know women of their own age group or have a means of meeting them. This group provides a way to connect, either in person or just over the telephone.

Parish Prayer Chain: This group of parishioners receives prayer requests for special intentions and prays in their homes through the end of each month for the intentions requested.  There are no meetings to attend, which makes this a wonderful opportunity for those who otherwise would be unable to participate in a ministry.

Parish Welcome Committee: This group organizes and facilitates a quarterly potluck dinner to welcome all new members to our parish. This is a great opportunity for those who are limited on time and unable to commit to weekly meetings but would like to be involved on a semi-annual basis.  Dinners are normally  in August and January.

Prayer Blanket Ministry: The prayer blankets have brought relief to the suffering and peace to the fearful.  As someone uses the blanket they know they are not alone, that there are those who care about them and are praying for their healing.  Pick a blanket up in the Parish Office.

Project Hope: Project Hope helps our parishioners endure difficult economic times:  This new ministry relies on quarterly donations from the congregation to provide financial assistance to registered and active parishioners of St. Monica.  The primary goal of Project HOPE is to help our own parishioners meet house or rental payments while they are temporarily out of work or experiencing times of significant loss of income.

Respect Life: (Click here for details) The Pro-Life committee works to promote the value and sanctity of life taught through the Gospels.  We strive to inform and educate our parish community about sanctity of life issues through participation and involvement. The Pro-Life committee helps organize and participates in events such as Respect Life month, the Remembrance March (commemorating the Roe-v-Wade decision) and other charitable and educational events upholding life at its sacred value from cradle to natural passage to eternal life.

Secular Franciscan Order: Secular Franciscans are members of a local fraternity, a living and active Christian community.  SFO members strive to live the Gospel in the manner of St. Francis of Assisi by spreading the Gospel by word, and example in their homes, at work and in the parish.  If you are searching for a way to renew your baptismal commitment, to deepen your relationship with the Lord, and give witness to the Kingdom of God, the Lord may be inviting you to consider a vocation as a Secular Franciscan.

Seekers: Seekers is a small faith sharing group open to all women 18 to 88 who want to enjoy the fellowship of others and grow in faith. Our format is one of learning, sharing and nurturing.  We meet on Wednesday mornings in Lyke Hall.  Come join us for coffee, meet new friends and enrich your faith.

Separated and Divorced Catholics – This is a support and educational group for individuals coming out of a love relationship, experiencing separation and divorce.  This group is designed to help adults experiencing such losses to make the difficult transition from hurting to healing and regain a sense of peace and normalcy in their daily lives.  This group meets the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month, August through June from 7-9 PM.  Contact Carla Fedigan for upcoming sessions and registration information.  She can be contacted at clfedigan@gmail.com or in the evenings at 770-656-0377

Small Christian Communities:
St Monica's continues Faith sharing in small communities made up of 8-12 adults, young adults, teens or   families who share their faith in member's homes. They come together to learn, share, nurture and support each other as they try to live a Catholic Christian way of life. All, including non-catholic members of a family, are welcome to take part in this opportunity to grow in faith and become better acquainted with fellow parishioners.

Sponsor Couple Program: This select group of married couples assists the Clergy of the parish in preparing engaged couples for marriage or remarriage.  Engaged couples are pared with older and more experienced couples (who have been married at least 5 years) as part of a larger, more comprehensive Marriage Preparation Program designed to address the most significant areas of growth necessary to make strong, faith-centered Catholic marriages.  Training is required for Sponsor Couples, and is provided by the Parish. Leadership: Bryan and Kate Sell 770.844.1806

St. Vincent de Paul Society (Click Here for Details) A uniquely challenging and particularly rewarding ministry of service to the lesser advantaged within our own parish territory.  The sustaining spirituality of the Society enables its members to reach out in coordinated efforts to lift-up the temporarily needy.  This is a "hands-on" ministry that is both practical and persuasively spiritual.  Vincentians are as much served by their ministry as they serve others.  This is the premier front line parish effort that puts into practice the rich social justice message of the Gospel.
