Parents are the first teachers of their
children in the ways of faith.
Our parish family of believers supports and helps parents in this important task.
St. Monica’s offers a variety of age-appropriate activities to inspire this effort.
What is LIFE?
The term “LIFE” (lifelong,
information,
formation and education,) is a way of representing the promise made to each of
us at the time of our baptism by our
parents and
faith community. We
live and grow in our faith through family life, single life, work life, sports
life, and each week when we celebrate Eucharist. We take part in the life of the
parish, OCIA, liturgy, and classes for adults, teens, young
adults, and children. We receive instruction, training and education about our
history, our church and our faith. Education is really how we critically think
about what we have learned and apply it by changing the way we live.
All that we do as a community of faith helps us grow and come to know how
God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit work in our lives. Our
Parish family
helps
us to respond to our Gospel call.
What is a LIFE Event?
LIFE events are the way the parish of Saint
Monica learns together, prays together, gets to know each other and celebrates.
These “Holy” family events are opportunities to share who we are with
each other and our young people.
They are intergenerational gatherings of our parish family offered throughout
the year. You will find a detailed
list of all LIFE Events on the information counter of the RE building.
Select the events that best suit your family.
Do my children have to attend LIFE Events?
Yes, in addition to attending regular classes each child in grades one through eight is required to attend 8 LIFE Events to complete their Religious Education attendance requirements for the year. We offer at least 15 LIFE Events each year. Children enrolled in the Home Study Program are also required to attend 8 LIFE Events. Everyone in the parish is welcome and encouraged to attend LIFE Events. Children do not attend these Events alone, but with the entire family or at least one parent.
LIFE Support Volunteer
Help make your faith come alive by volunteering.
Do you want to
become an important part of your parish’s religious
education structure?
Perhaps our greatest need
is that of Catechist, who is a person willing to share their faith with others.
Over 200 Catechists are needed each year.
Please
prayerfully
consider the many ways you can support our community’s spiritual growth by
volunteering for one of the jobs on the
LIFE Support
Volunteer
application
included with your registration form.
¨ All volunteers must fill out the “Archdiocese Safe Environment forms” on file at St.
Monica's to work with minors
