Saint Monica’s High School Youth Group

Grades 9-12

Mission statement:   To lead teens into a relationship with Jesus Christ and empower them to live as His disciples.

Pizza and Prayer:  Pizza and Prayer is really the heartbeat of St. Monica’s youth group.  Prayer is one of the most important things we do as Catholics.  We meet Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 8:30pm throughout the year.  We gather in the Narthex for pizza and then have music and different forms of prayer following.  This also continues throughout the summer months.  Please see the calendar for specific dates and topics.

Weekly Youth Nights:  All teens, grades 9—12, are invited to attend our Sunday night youth group, immediately following the 5:30pm Mass.  We begin with food and fellowship. The nights vary from teachings of our Catholic faith to nights on issues in the lives of teens today, to social and fun nights! You don't want to miss out.  The teachings are presented through speakers, skits, music, prayer and activities followed by small break out groups for discussion.  So what are we missing? YOU!!  Come check us out any Sunday and be part of this incredible community!

Retreats:  Retreats are one of the highlights of St. Monica’s youth group. They truly are a life-changing experience. There is a Confirmation retreat each year, as well as a fall retreat for all 9th –12th graders. In the Spring, we have a Men’s and Women’s Retreat weekend as well as a Junior/Senior Retreat.  In the summer, teens can go on a mission trip as well as other retreats and Catholic camps. We still meet for pizza and prayer throughout the summer as well.  Rising juniors and seniors are also invited to attend a retreat for deeper faith formation and leadership training. See the calendar and/or summer schedule in the RE building for more specifics.

Service:   We as Catholics are called to live a life of service as Christ did. Through mission work, trips to the soup kitchen in Atlanta, cardboard box city, and other service opportunities, we try to be the hands and feet of Christ to those who are poor both physically and spiritually.  Service flows from a life of prayer, rooted in the Sacraments, which is essential to every service activity.

Activities:   Throughout the year there are opportunities for many trips including XLT which is a monthly night of worship where teens from around the diocese gather, white water rafting, six flags etc. See the bulletin and calendar for upcoming trips!

Visitors and friends are ALWAYS welcome!

ADULTS  OF ALL AGES—WANT TO HELP  BRING TEENS TO CHRIST?

St. Monica’s  CORE Team:  The youth group would not happen if it weren't for St. Monica’s dedicated CORE team. These are young adult and adult volunteers that have a desire to invest in the lives of teens.  They team up to help plan and attend youth group nights, retreats, trips and commit to on-going relational ministry with the teens. If you have a love for your Catholic faith and a desire to share it with teens please consider joining us on CORE. Pray about it!
